Denise Harold, M.Ed, fell in love with the Montessori system of education and philosophy about children when she experienced it through the eyes of her youngest daughter, Kristen.
Denise has been a Montessori Guide since 2004. She obtained her first Montessori Early Childhood credential from the North American Montessori Centre in British Columbia that same year. Because of her love of the Montessori philosophy, Denise decided to pursue a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Montessori Education. She graduated with honors in July 2007 and also received her Montessori Early Childhood teaching credential from the Pan American Montessori Society in 2008.
Denise’s graduate thesis compared the behaviors of children in traditional classroom with the behaviors of children in a Montessori environment. Even though the Montessori classroom used in the study was not a truly authentic Montessori environment and was experiencing some turmoil in the loss of a teacher, the study still demonstrated that the children in the Montessori environment showed a statistically significant greater emotional and social maturity than their counterparts in the traditional environment.
Prior to coming to Montessori, Denise worked extensively in Sales, Marketing, and Training. She worked with adult learners for over 20 years before she began her work with the children.
Denise is able to use her unique combination of adult teaching experience and knowledge of Montessori theory and philosophy to build parent education programs effective in attracting and retaining knowledgeable families to Montessori education.
Denise’s passion for sharing the Montessori philosophy with others is evident in her writing and speaking engagements. She is available for consultation, workshops, speaking engagements, and other training events for both Montessori and other early childhood programs.
