“We are what we eat”. So, how does the food your child eats effect his growth and development?
New technology has changed our food supply, providing an increased number of processed food options. As we move further away from eating fresh meats, vegetables, and whole grains, we are seeing an increase in disease, food allergies, behavior and emotional problems, and developmental delays in young children.
Taking a glance at any magazine will show the number of pharmaceutical products aimed at “treating” a variety of maladies. While treating these symptoms is often helpful, there are often measures we can take to reduce or even prevent these illnesses before they start. By taking charge of our children’s (and our own) health and preventing illness, we can also avoid the negative side effects many of these pharmaceuticals can produce.
In this section, we will look at how environmental factors, hygiene, and diet can all play important roles in your child’s health and development.
